Campus choirs lead semifinalists in 2015 MBC National Choral Competition
SEVERAL choirs from schools and universities are competing in the semifinals of the annual MBC National Choral Competition on Dec. 8 at the Aliw Theater.
The school choirs dominated the recent regional championships.
Winners of the semifinal rounds will compete in the grand finals on Dec. 12. Champion choirs will each receive over P100,000 in cash and kind.
Lead qualifiers in the open category of the semifinals are University of Baguio, St. Mary’s University of Bayombong (Nueva Vizcaya), La Salle Bacolod, Father Saturnino Urios University of Butuan City, Tarlac State University, Ligao National High School in Albay, Technological Institute of the Philippines and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University.
In the children’s division, participating schools are Don Bosco Technical InstituteMakati, Colegio de Santa Rosa, St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina, Urdaneta City National High School, Pasig Catholic College, St. Paul College-Pasig, San Nicolas National High School of Ilocos Norte, Polomolok National High School, Pavia National High School, Cauayan City National High School, Corpus Christi School-Pueblo of Cagayan de Oro, St. Joseph City School of Balanga and De La Salle Araneta University’s Basic Education Department.
Other academic institutions participating in the open cate- gory include Mapua Institute, Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Urdaneta City University, St. Paul College Pasig High School, Oton National High School, Adamson Univer- sity, University of Perpetual Help (Dalta)-Calamba, Philippine Normal University-Alicia (Isabela) and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology.
The 2015 MBC National Choral Competition is support- ed by Alaska, Shell, Hapee Toothpaste, Coca-Cola, Cobra Energy Drink, Speed Detergent, M. Lhuillier and Jollibee.
