Diplomats must help fight pollution: Envoy
NEW DELHI: The embassy of Armenia has advocated participation of the diplomatic community in Delhi in fighting pollution in the city.
Reacting to HT’s report on the New Delhi Municipal Council setting up a park having trees from all countries, Armen Martirosyan, the ambassador of Armenia, wrote: “New Delhi boasts one of the largest diplomatic communities in the world, and as a member of this community I can attest to the fact that it’s per capita car ownership rate is significantly higher than New Delhi’s average.”
“I would like to put forward an initiative whereby all representatives commencing their tenure in New Delhi coordinate with the NDMC to contribute to the mentioned project. Given the size of New Delhi’s diplomatic community, this initiative has the potential to go beyond symbolism and have a profound impact on the environment in Sarojini Nagar,” he said in a letter to HT.
