PANCHKULA: Sirsa-based Dera SachaSaudachairpersonVipassanaInsanyetagainfailedtoturn up before the Panchkula police for questioning even as she was declared medically fit.

Vipassana was summoned for the first time on Tuesday by Haryana police for questioning its ongoing probe in the August 25 Panchkula violence, but citing medical grounds, she skipped the date.

Suspecting that she might have been faking her ill health, a team of doctors from Sirsa civil hospital was sent to the dera for her checkup on Thursday.

Speaking to HT, Panchkula deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Manbir Singh said, “Her medical report confirmed that she has no health problem that stops her from travelling.”

Reacting to her repeated default of police summons, Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla said these things are definitely going against Vipassana.

“Her questioning is vital for our ongoing investigation into Panchkula violence. Shehad earlier called one of my officers and made excuses for her non-appearance. We have asked her to appear immediately and if she does not come by tomorrow (Friday), we will take appropriate action,” he said.

When asked if Vipassana will be arrested, he said, “Anything can happen if she continues to ignore police questioning.”

WHY VIPASSANA IS WANTED?

The ongoing interrogation of Honeypreet, the “adopted” daughter of Ram Rahim, has revealed that Vipassana was also part of a meeting that took place in the dera on August 17, where in planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula, in case the sect head is convicted. The police suspect that Vipassana, being the administrative head of the dera, might be privy to the conspiracy behind the violence.

‘BOOK HONEYPREET’S FORMER HUSBAND FOR DEFAMING HER’

Rohtak Haryana State Women Commission has asked police to take action against Honeypreet Insan’s ex-husband Vishwas

Gupta for ‘defaming’ her.

In a letter to Haryana DGP BS Sandu, BJP leader and chairperson of the women commission Pratibha Suman has asked police to book Gupta under suitable sections and send a compliance report to the commission within seven days.

Suman said the letter was sent after lawyers of a human rights group met her with a complaint against Gupta. “They complained that Gupta held a press conference in Chandigarh in which he openly insulted Honeypreet for having illicit relationship with

her father-figure Ram Rahim,” she said.

The complaint further stated: “The news of his claim was widely circulated in print and electronic media, but he did not back it up with any proof. Who is he to defame her now by making such statements?”

Speaking to HT, Suman said, “Honeypreet is accused of inciting violence in Panchkula. But being the chairperson of the women commission, I can not let anyone de fame her character like this. That is why I have written a letter to the DGP.”
